Joana Mallwitz - Metropolitan Opera debut by true globalist comedy

Kentaro Ogasawara April 11, 2025

Mozart's opera, Le nozze di Figaro is currently performing at The Metropolitan Opera. The opera depicts the eternal problems embedded in the late 18th century aristocratic society with a profoundly human drama, particularly the arias, which are the various women singing with natural melodies over the layers of Mozart's elegant polyphony. Conductor Joana Mallwitz is a professional in German music. While paying attention to the singers, she added bold accents to the smooth flow, making the Met Orchestra sound dynamic and the solos bloom in an ensemble. In the recitatives, there are the true feelings of the world, and in the next moment, she portrays the heart's voice through music. The audience laughs at the true human story, and even Mallwitz and the Met Orchestra unfold by the beautiful music. The problem is resolved when the Count's wife appears, and the Count apologizes, and the music reaches a coda, bringing tears as you listen to the harmonious Mozart's music. The singers of Figaro, dressed in the music of 1786, a time when the beauty and elegance of the aristocracy was always side by side, are of different nationalities and races. In this world without preconceptions, diversity is side by side. Under Maliwitz, they bring to light the delicate and flawed human figures left by the cosmopolitan of 18th-century Europe with their personalities, vividly depicting love, desire, anger, jealousy, greed, joy, sorrow, shame, and above all, the essential forgiveness.
