From a Speeding Car Window
A brief word to the blunt driver,
I open the window
and lean my heart outside.
In an instant, light turns into a rushing gale, flirting with a golden gloss,
blanketing everything in sight.
Here and there, laced with green, red, and faint embers of light,
with a heavy roaring sound—gooo-gooo—
we, alongside the car, were swallowed whole into a womb.
Sinking into the back seat to settle myself,
swayed by massive waves,
a hymn of passing souls, a deepening repetitive drone.
Surrendering everything, closing my eyes,
I drifted backward in time.
