Where Sound Changes How You Hear the World

Kentaro Ogasawara May 10, 2026

■ classicasobi

An independent observational practice recording how sound transforms consciousness

■ About

classicasobi is an independent observational practice that continuously attends the world’s leading opera houses and concert halls, experiences performances entirely self-funded, and records how sound transforms the human body and consciousness in real time.

This is not music criticism.
It is an ongoing record of how music changes perception itself.

■ What is recorded

classicasobi does not record “works.” It records transformation.

  • How breathing changes at the moment of sound

  • When the sense of time disappears

  • How the body reacts before thought

  • The atmosphere of the theatre and the city

  • How listening transforms the self

This is not an analysis. It is documentation of lived experience.

■ Perspective

classicasobi is not written from the position of a critic but from that of a companion in listening.

It does not evaluate performances.
It shares the act of listening itself.

It does not present authority.
It builds a bridge between sensation and understanding.

■ Independent & Self-Funded

classicasobi is not invited, commissioned, or sponsored.

Every performance is attended entirely at personal expense.

This independence is not a stylistic choice—it is the condition that guarantees the purity of observation.

In European and American high culture, the question of “who funds the observer” is essential.
This project is built on a refusal of PR-driven or invitation-based access.

■ Why support is needed

This practice is not based on individual articles, but on continuous field observation.

It requires:

  • Constant international travel to major opera houses

  • High-cost performance tickets

  • On-site documentation and time-intensive observation

All of this is self-funded.

Support is not payment for content.
It is participation in the continuation of the observation itself.

■ What supporters receive

Supporters are not purchasing articles.

They are gaining access to the process through which human perception is transformed by sound.

■ Final statement

classicasobi is not a project that evaluates music.

It is an ongoing observational practice that records how sound transforms human consciousness.

Sustaining this observation is itself a cultural act.
