The 2026–27 season is characterized by major artistic transitions and clearly differentiated programming across leading U.S. orchestras.

At the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Klaus Mäkelä appears across multiple programs, further establishing his artistic presence with the ensemble. In particular, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 4 stands out as a significant program that highlights both Mäkelä’s interpretive approach and the orchestra’s technical strength.

At the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the final phase of Andris Nelsons’ tenure is marked by major repertoire choices, including The Queen of Spades, underscoring the end of an important artistic era in Boston.

The Philadelphia Orchestra, under Yannick Nézet-Séguin, continues to place strong emphasis on Mahler, with multiple performances that reinforce his interpretive focus on large-scale symphonic repertoire.

The New York Philharmonic presents a highly diverse season, featuring a wide range of conductors and programs, emphasizing variety, contemporary perspectives, and stylistic breadth.
